Thanked: 1New England Razor Co- Puritan 6/8 Restored in Carbon Fiber
I just got another restore back from Brad Maggard and this shaver sings like the Vienna Boys' Choir! It is buttery smooth and almost made it in the junk pile. When I got it looked as if someone had taken a Dremel grinding bit to the blade. It has this wonderful patina it’s almost like a gun metal blue. The blade apparently had lots of issues here is what Brad had to say along with the before and after pics: Let me know what you think :-)
Puritan --
Blade was trashed. I did what I could -- but I really liked the darkened tang, so, I saved it by electrical taping the tang + spine during the blade restoration. Finish on it isn't perfect due to the original condition. This razor also is bent to one side -- I did everything I could - it closes without making contact but it is off-centered a bit. No harm, really...The razor also had an extremely wavy edge -- I re-set the edge and gave it a hone, entire honing process took almost an hour. Worth it? I think so. Scales: CARBON FIBER! These are hand-made 2x2 weave carbon fiber -- there are a few air pockets that surfaced due to it being hand made, but, nothing too distracting. The wedge is Blue and Green G-10. Really looks nice in person. Scales match the tang real well and shaves fantastic.
