Default Not a straight razor but I think it still falls into this forum...

I got these two knives from a yard sale almost 20 years ago for free. I had no idea what to do with them then I just liked them. I started doing scale work a few months back so I decided to restore the blades and make some custom handle for them. Took almost 5 inches off the long JA henckels blade. Also too out a large hump in the blades near the handle put in from years of hone ware. Both blades were in some real rough shape. I hand sanded them back to life and then made some scales for them. The handles are done with a CA finish. After peening the handles I sealed the handles and tang's with another 6 applications of medium CA so both are completely waterproof and have no areas for food to hide. I gave them to my mom, who is a chef, as a Christmas gift. The woods used:
The big old chopper's handle is Purpleheart and Yellow Cedar birds nest.

The slicer I did as my mom's family tree:
When it comes to gifts I like to put a lot of thought into it.
The handle is layer with (from tang out):
Yellowheart - from columbia where my grandpa is barried
Walnut - my other grandpa had grown them before he had passed
Pine - my grandma lives in Polik Pines CA
Cambodian rose wood - My other grandma had grown amazing roses before she passed
Oak - my parents live in a huge oak forest
    maple for me in Canada.

Amazing how determined we can be, just to pick something up many years ago that caught your eye to turning them into pieces of functional art. They are almost to beautiful to use but so amazing that they must be.
    Thanks for sharing.
