Thanked: 2209Randys Razors Part II
Hey guys here are some pics of the 3 razors I finished off at Spazola's.
All 3 blades had been ground a long time ago and needed to be either reground or scales made or both.
Charlie retempered the first razor and helped me a great deal with the scales.
The white paper micarta scale material is really nice to work. It cuts, sands and finishes with ease.
The first one was scaled by Gssixgun way back in 2009. He put on some very classy scales and I decided to keep them. The blade was to hard so we re-tempered it and needed to have the edge thinned out and reground to even up the grind. The steel is 1095.
The second razor was made by me and finish ground by Spazola last June at the Cape Girardeau razor meet. Geezer provided the scale material and did the cutting and shaping. I did the finishing work on the scales
In honor of Nun2sharp I have named this one "Frenchy"
The last one is started out with the blade much to wide so I cut it down and reground the blade.
The steel is again 1095 and the scale material is paper micarta.
Here is a group shot......
How to edit out this last pic?iLast edited by randydance062449; 02-22-2013 at 12:37 AM.

Beautiful Randy, I love the smiling blade with the white scales but you already know that.

Hi Randy,
WOW! You got the looks part right! Great work... Now, the real deal: do they shave well? How hard is the metal? Can you measure Rockwell hardness somewhere? The 1095 should be not too difficult to hone, not too much manganese in it. I would love to hear more about them...
cheers,
Nenad

Thanked: 170Really nice work, Randy. The smilie in white paper micarta is my favorite. We need to get together sometime soon and talk about vacuum processing wood, and getting my salt tanks going.
