ruff draft of restore / scales ..
ok so the blade needs about 5mins of work but what i think is gonna the icing on the cake is the scales .. i started a set just to see if it would work , messed them up a bit but i kinda just finished them out just to see ..
they are gonna be a one piece deer antler design !!!
originally i cut it with a saws-all and then took out the rest with a little cutting wheel , i think im gonna go ahead and pick up another bansaw before i make the final set cause trying without the right equipment is a pain !! not as big of a pain as trying to cut a straight line in a antler while in a vice ...lol... so unless i can get ahold of a band saw around here its gonna be a few weeks before i put this Packwood back together ...
so here is my ruff draft !! what do you guys think so far ???

That should work. It'll look fine. Guessing maybe you'll have to seal it, but can't recall on antler's....

i was just messing around at first and cut the antler to short , so from there on out it was just play time ..lol.. i think i will seal it with a clear poly , it should bring a nice satin finish but just be enough to bring out the texture in the antler its self ... i gotta get back in the attic and grab another rack to cut up for the HOPEFULLY final scales im gonna make ... ill call this one trial & error learning scales ..lol

Not sure about the epoxy. A coat of Renwax is all I would put on it. That's all I have on my stag scales, and its enough to have just a little gloss to it while bringing out the color.
Cool idea btw. I have a store near me that sells deer antler. I might try this myself.

i knew i should have waited till it was done .. now there is gonna be 500 razor popping up in antler ... ( just kidding ) if you do id like to see and hear how you went about doing it and what the results were .. i had a bunch left over from some brush handles that i was gonna toss in the can , then that razor came and the scales were split almost the whole length and pretty fragile so i just went with the flow ..lol

i just started another one using just a thin cut off wheel , unfortunately the first one was the best piece to work with ...lol , everything else is full of turns ect .. this should be interesting no doubt ..lol.. if only everything came out like it is in my head ...lol
