Thread: first full restoration of a Torrey

I don't know what I was thinking when I put the first bid on this razor. My heart sunk when I learned that I had actually won it. When It arrived, it did not look as bad as it did on the bay, so decided to give it a go for a full restoration. So this is my first shot at doing so. The best thing to come out of this is the knowledge gained. Hats off to all of you pros that do this all of the time and to all who posted in the "How to" forum. It was great reference help.

Thankyou for the compliments. It shaves well, but my honing skills are still developing. I'm sure that it can shave better. I beleive this razor needs to be dismantled and the scales thinned down some. It was too clunky while shaving. But hey, my first re-scale and I learned alot from this one.

You can be proud of your work, you did just fine and that is a good looking Army straight.

Was gonna say maybe just chamfer the scale edges some. Nice restore otherwise.
