Thanked: 32The Rhino : A straight razor 8/8 with spyderhole
It's a prototype i wanted to do since some time. A big 8/8 in c130 with spyderhole (licenced by spyderco.) As benchmade has shown a prototype of straight during the last year, and because i have the licence, i wanted to make a straight razor for the spyderfan with beard
The spyderhole is for "one hand opening" but the index and thumb can be place in the hole during the shaving and that is not bad at all. (that was the aim).
It's almost a wedge, with a 300mm wheel grind, water and oil hardening, 2 tempering to 170°c during 45mn.
9 cm sharp, toxic green g10 and carbon fiber for the spacer. The scale are screwed in order to permit a full cleaning.
17.5 cm long, closed, 5mm steel thick, 6-7 mm thick with the scale, home made bronze phosphore washer.
I intend to try a bit shorter version with niolox blade.
The small horn to the nose is for shave under the nostril . Why rhino, because of the two horn of the nose and the big size of the blade

Nice!
First picture made me think of a dead elephant in a green canoe.
I'm usually not a fan of modern razors but this looks clean and highly functional to me.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

I like your razor and design, and being a Spyderco knife fan gives your razor the thumbs for me, I would like to see the Benchmade prototype if you have a link or picture, because they make excellent knives, I carry a UK legal Spyderco Urban, but own one of the rarest of all Spyderco knives the Michael Walker C22, I would love to see a few high end knife manufactures making a few razors, especially when you look at the kind of steels they can get hold of, now a 7/8 square point in ZDP 189 SV30 or VG10 would be on top my wanted list.PS the only thing I would say about your Spydie hole on the razor it's purely cosmetic, because it serves no real purpose the entire spine or barbers notch will be where you actually open the razor, and as for the Spyderco knives the hole is used for one hand assisted opening, still a very nice decorative touch.

i've seen on a video about an us knife shos last year.
i didn't remember the shape, that is funny that is more or less the same idea than the one i did...
i was not inspired by the benchmade one but by the three last one i did

Being a huge fan of spyderco and using their knifes for years I must say this straight is right up my alley. The exacustion of the work and detail into this straight is incredibly. Very very nice work. Sign me up I would love to have one in my rotation
