First restore with custom scales
After a tough search for wood (wood stores in The Hague apparently do not sell the woods they say they do), I got a piece of maranti for free and set to work on this (very cheaply bought) A.G. & ZN:
Having watched a few videos on scale making, I set off. My girlfriend was pissed off when she saw the living room, which I stupidly thought was a good place to do some sawing and sanding. These were the sawn scales, the lower one having been sanded up to 1000 grit:
I put some lacquer (is that what it's called?) on and left them to dry, pinned to an old cutting board. Then I made an unforgivable mistake in a moment of lacking attention, hammering a nail through the scale right next to the pin hole. Also, I found that I should not have rounded the insides of the scales, lovely beginner's mistake which ensures that the wedge does not fit.
I replaced the nails with brass pins and washers, the nails were no good for making washerless pins, but I don't have pictures of those. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the result, it's ready for the hones!
I got some more free wood today and will be playing around with the other 9 razors that were in the same buy. 10 razors in pretty good state for 55 euros, I'm a happy man

Good job, like the design alot.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Great first attempt! Next time, stick the scales together with 2 way tape, then cut, shape, drill and sand. They will be a mirror copy of eachother!
Cheers,
