A slight hollow instead of a flat side om the kamisori would be better i think.
It will probably take a few razors until you got everything dialed in but by the looks of it, it won't be long!
Keep it up!Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

Tape is unnecessary but in time the stabiliser will get in the way of the hone. Also an accident causing a chip would hasten this as the edge would then be reduced further towards the stabiliser. I have seen other razors made this way but it is not a design I would call "future proof" & I think it may be more of a knife making design.
A flat grind on the kamisori or any razor for that matter, makes for tedious honing as so much metal must be removed . Taping the spine or making a detachable guide a la frameback may be a solution here. A slight hollow is normal & makes for easier honing. Look at the profiles of some like Iwasaki etc.
I've never made a razor so you have my respect & but I have honed a lot of razors & can see at a glance the ones that would make for difficult honing maintenance.
btw My compliments on fitting & finish. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
