Cool Daffy Dubl Duck custom set

This little duckling took quite a journey..

    But she ended up here

Built to spec,, a 2.25 inch x 11/16 plus DD Satinedge that I just happened to have a cracked blade to re-fashion
The blade was Satin polished and the Tang and Spine re-blued..

The Scales and Brush handle are Bloodwood, Pressure treated with Poly then polished and buffed with Renwax.
The Razor's wedge and Brush base are Brass lined Recon Turquoise
All the razor hardware is Brass

The Knot is a 24mm TGN Overstuffed Bulb Silvertip set at a nice stiff 50mm,, OAL is a hand filling 120mm

I guess it looks ok Glen.......... WHO THE HELL AM I KIDDING ITS AMAZING!!!! I cant even pretend to not be thrilled. I hate to say its expected, but after seeing your other work and your incredible work ethic I must have just assumed(i know i know what they say about assuming) it would be nothing short of perfect.
    Respectfully,
    Christian

Very nice combo! The turquoise is a nice touch and the bloodwood looks amazing.

I have been using the Birchwood Casey Super Blue for the past few years, it works quite a bit better then the older Perma Blue.. like any bluing though it is all about the prep..

Warm the razor a heat gun or blow dryer works well, not hot, but warm
I use Blue Painters Tape to mask off the blade
The steel must be clean, really clean, ZERO oils
I use a q-tip to apply the solution.
I let it set for mere seconds, then wipe & buff with a clean dry paper towel
If I like what I see, I set that color with a soak of WD-40, if not I re-apply a second time and repeat with the paper towel buff
The paper towel, the WD-40, and practice, are what gives the Vintage look
You can get a perfect New Gun look easily, the Vintage look is a bit harder to get right

Great work and I really dig the fact that you made the matching set w/ the recon stone on the bottom of the brush to match the wedge as well , the brushes are getting better and better Glen. I've been wondering about using the blood wood myself...thanks for selling me on it.
