Thanked: 4Question on Torrey Restore
Hey guys,
I have this Torrey that I started restoring and it seems like the 600 grit greaseless is leaving scratches in the blade and my 1st step polish will not take out.
Am I missing a step here?
I tried going to back to the 600 and all the scratches it left look identical to the previous ones. Do I need to go back to the 400? While I progressed through the compounds it looked like the scratches from each previous compound were replaced by smaller ones from the next compound. I started this razor at 180 grit.
The 1st step polishing compound I'm using is this.
I've attached a before and after shot of the razor.
It is however very rewarding watching the mirror finish of the razor come to lifeLast edited by jonohio; 04-03-2013 at 02:35 AM.

600 is just quite aggressive. This is why so few people can do a real mirror finish. However, you could try adding in the extra fast stainless (grayish) and black in before the white. Even then, 600 scratches don't come out easy.

No problem at all. Glad you're liking the razor, and I bet I'm enjoying vacation even more than you are your razor. Great time with the family, been on the Harley every day, and it's SO nice to be somewhere warm.
