Nice, simple, and classy. I have got to try the recon stone, it just looks so good used as a wedge. Big thumbs up man.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Thanked: 6Hello to all at SRP-
I just joined the forum a few mins. ago and this is my first post. I've been a lurker here for a long time--and found this post by accident. The Dovo in the pics is mine-and from what I see, I couldn't be more pleased. Glen has honed a few razors for me in the past and I've been more than pleased with his work. I can't wait to see his work in person with the rescale--its looks better than I could have imagined.
I bought this razor new a little over a month ago and on the third shave, when I opened the razor the scales cracked apart at the pivot pin. I contacted the vendor I purchased it from and he essentially told me "tough luck" it yours now. So I contacted Glen to see if he could do anything with it.
Now instead of being an annoyance when I see it, I can look forward to using it again. Glen, thanks for the incredible craftmanship-I'm really looking forward to receiving and using this razor.
Also thanks to all the SRP members for the valuable advice, how-to videos, and great place to spend a little down time after a hard day's work. I wish that I'd joined a while ago.
all the best,
Marty E.

Thanked: 28Another great job Glen, Do you make your own micarta? or just get it from a supplier? I was looking at some video's of how to make it and was thinking of having a go at it.
Also, when you design scales, how do you decide how much of a curve to put in etc. is it all free-hand? or is there some kind of geometry involved. ?
again, thank you for sharing."In the words of the ancients, one should make his decisions within the space of seven breaths." Yamamoto Tsunetomo

Thanked: 13249Mostly I order G10 and Micarta from Masecraft they have done me right over the years
I use the old scales, I use patterns I have made of my personal designs, and I use freehand. The most imoportant thing is the the razor is covered and safe in there, and the scales balance the razor out when Honing, Stropping, and Shaving, then after you accomplish that it is pretty open to interpretation... I strongly believe form follows function however, nothing is worse then making pretty scales that do not do their job firstLast edited by gssixgun; 04-16-2013 at 02:45 PM.
