Thanked: 3Wester Bros Anchor Brand Manganese Steel
Picked this up yesterday for $4.00 at a local antique market. The ivory scales were cracked and broken. a rust spot on the blade.
A couple of hours hand sanding and some Mothers Mag later and we're ready for scales

'Never handled a Wester that wasn't a good shaver. I can just never find them any larger than 5/8. Enjoy that blade.

Thanked: 3I don't have the ability to make scales so I'm going to have to purchase pre-fab scales. But I found a nice ritch blue set online.

I've got a few of those Wester's Manganese and they are good shavers though they can be tough to hone IME. Once you get there you've got a heck of a good shaver. Nice job on the blade. Make sure the scales you buy are long enough from the pivot pin hole to the wedge. Some guys don't make them all the same. I learned that the hard way.

Not trying to negate your good efforts, but I think I would have saved the ivory if it were all there, that stuff is like gold these days.
