A Dbl Duck and Union
I did this pair because I wanted to do Gold plating. The Double Duck was my 'user' grade as I have a NOS piece I keep pristine. The Union Gold Coin was just a neat blade but here too as in the DD the gold was gone. I finally have the ability to Gold Plate and it came out much nicer than the original pieces I've seen. It doesn't show well here simply because the gold is so clean and smooth as opposed to the rather dull ( by comparison) to the original pieces and it just glows. I mixed up some enamel blue to match the original colors in the DD and called it done.Anyway, here they are.

Nice Work!
I’m was sent several razor by a newer member to clean up a bit and hone for him and one is a Genco Gold Seal that has the gold on the shank and most of it is still there. It has very similar gold'ish semitransparent scales that really compliment the blade!
Of the two you re-plated I really like the Gold Coin!!
As always you did some nice work!

Thanks. Yes, that Union is a nice blade. I've met several guys now that are seriously into collecting them.
I believe I have some of the Genco Gold Seals ( have to dig them out ) and a couple of others that are missing the Gold that will be up next. The finish is probably what these might have looked like when new as the finish is very clear, bright and deep and as such doesn't photograph well. Nothing like pure Gold! In person they look great I think.

Is there a product will bring back some of the luster without significantly deteriorating the gold?
I’ve read that either Mothers or MASS can be used but one of them will destroy the gold!
I’ve used ammonia on gold jewelry but I didn’t want to ruin that pretty thin layer of gold!

I don't know of any product that will bring back the luster. I've always been very hesitant touching the stuff as it disappears like a fart in the wind it seems. I've just used pure wax ( not wax/polish) just to try and get a bit of a shine to it but I've always feared any sort of 'polish' as there is abrasives in them that would just remove more. I also considered using a clear sealer as this would protect it and at the same time give it some shine. What makes anything look dull is a rough surface and I thought this would help by making is smooth and glossy.
How bad is your gold? If it's not so hot why not redo it especially if it's a nice razor and you want to keep it?
I may be wrong but does yours have the gold not only on the shaft but going down the top of the spine and around the tip? I think, if memory serves me correctly that that is how one of mine is.
