A Nicholson resurection
My son "Muskieman" and I were looking over some old files that had been given to me by a friend. They had been cleaned out of an old toolbox of a late, friend of a friend. After looking them over we decided that it would be a cool project to make a couple of one piece razors for fun. So we fired up the kiln brought her up to temp and the fun began.
This is after annealing.
After rough grind. Ready to heat treat.
Lots of finish grind and a whole bunch of sanding then the polish.
Still was able to keep most of the name intact.
Wasn't able to keep the back file description as much as I would have liked .
Have to thank Grant "Baldy" for the inspiration though. Loved looking at his work and learning from his experiences. Muskiemans razor is still a work in progress though. He should have it finished within the week. Going to start honing tonight or tomorrow and hope to shave with it by monday night.
Have to thank Muskieman for his suggestions and wisdom and remembering what he has read and seen on the forum also.
So with that folks let me know what what you think. Last but not least next to the files was a old worn out pipe threading die. It is HSS. I annealed to make another tool to form some brush handles for some knots I have ordered.
