Default Shaving in hot climates - Hot Vs Cold shave

    G'Day

I'm new to straight shaving and I live in Darwin so I don't get hot water very often during the wet season. This has let me try both hot and cold shaves, and even though everyone hypes up the hot shave I am finding cold to be more enjoyable.

After a hot shave my skin feels sun burnt for about 12 hours, when I cold shave it feels quite refreshing with no burning and the shave seems closer. Has anyone else here tried cold shaving and how did you find it?

Live in the north east US . Warm/hot shaves are one of my few joys. Always use alum, aftershave and a balm. Suggestion.

    Hey Jok

Welcome to the forum. If cold water shaving works better for you just carry on doing it. It is about what works for you not others preferences. Where I live, like a lot of places in North America especially this year, it has been bitterly cold yet I continue to cold water shave as it is my preference. The linked thread has tons of opinions in it.

I live in Phoenix, and I heavily prefer a cold shave. Hot water when it is over 80 degrees inside and more than 100 outside is just not pleasant. I follow up with alum and then coconut oil as a moisturizer.

Thanks, the link was a good read. I have not tried Alum blocks yet but have tried a couple aftershaves I had laying around and they seem to help alot.
