Here's a link that educated me last year about Anzac Day.
It's for people around the world that do no know, as I didn't until last year. My son was looking on our kitchen calender for activities that I had listed for next week, when he saw the notations about Anzac Day stamped in small letters for tomorrow, Friday. He asked what it was , so I showed him this webpage.

Yes, Anzac day for the Australians is somewhat akin to what happened to Canadian's on Dieppe, a tragedy in both cases.
There's a great song and video about Anzac that, The Pogues did, the video and song, needless to say, are very moving.
I hope this is an appropriate place to post this:

@phrank
Thanks for posting this moving song tribute to our ANZACS
Whether it's the appropriate place to post or not is a small matter IMO
It's for the Australians in SRP who are honouring their war dead.
For me it's about the best place you could post it.
Have a good day mateRickyB

One for the Kiwis who served, especially the Maori battalion, pretty sure there is NZ somewhere in ANZAC, might have to google that, maybe some others here should do the same.Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown ~ Jim Morrison

Thanked: 485I did many a Cenotaph party when in the army. It was always freezing cold. The worst thing about these sort of days is that we seem to have to have them...
