Default Any members do nickel plating here??

    Hi gents

Jut wondering if any of our Aussie members dabble in Nickel Plating of razors or other objects.
I am currently cleaning up an old Single edge razor for a friend to display behind his bar.
It's all cleaned up from flood related gunk and damage and I would like to make it look as good as new.
    Thanks for any help given

Maggard's I think may have done on the DE restores
but can't say I have seen anyone doing it on here from Aus
other wise have you tried Qld Chrome plating they do Copper, Nickle and Chrome plating of Aluminium also they are at 423 Wondall Rd, Tingalpa QLD 4173 (07) 3893 2494
they may be able to help if no one else does
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

Caswells sell plating kits but not cheap.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

    @ bongo
Some weeks ago I started a thread on this restore on SRP
    http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...some-work.html
Owner became quite ill with pneumonia for a few weeks and needed to recover from that problem
While he was recuperating I got the razor sandblasted and it looked much better
This week I spoke to him again and showed him how it was coming along
Decision was made to find out abut the cost in nickel plating it again - so this is where I am at.

    @ Oz
Caswells are just too expensive for my taste at this time and really looking for a pro looking finish.

    @Substance
I will give Qld chrome plating a call tomorrow (Sat) and see what they can come up with.
Maggards does a great job but when shipping times costs are added up it gets to be a lengthy process indeed.

Will try to post some more pics soon

I would have tried soaking in naval jelly for several hours,,, or at least a white vinegar solution for a day & 1/2.
