Thanks. I haven't done much searching on SRP for wood stabilisation (didn't occur to me lol), but have been viewing content on woodworking forums/sites.

I am presently rebuilding my front verandah and will have a lot of hardwood off cuts if anyone is interested in using them for scales.
They have some beautiful grain and would look really good regardless of which finish you chose.
If anyone is interested I could drop some off at Andrew's (if that's OK with you, mate)Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Sounds good Adam
Supplier said ETA on vacuum chamber is 6-8 weeks.
I have a vacuum system for cooking, not sure what pressure it gets to, but its a glass dish with heavy plastic lid, and an attachment for my stick-blender/mixer to create the vacuum. Am thinking of trying that. Just have to find a place in Aust that sells Cactus Juice or similar.
Also need to buy another toaster oven to cure the wood... I had one but I tested it with a thermometer to check temp and temp variations but it burned out within 2 weeks (Serves me right for buying cheap crap)...
Im needing to get another, perhaps an old one that has stood the test of time, but using an external thermostat that connects via the power point, to turn the device on or off as needed, the one I'm looking at claims to be accurate to +- 5 degrees. I used to have one connected to a large chest freezer where I stored by homebrew kegs, and it turned the freezer on and off to maintain a temp of 1 degree C, worked well but I did notice my electricity bills go up by 100 a quarter... but that was always running, a small oven for curing stabilised wood would only be used sporadically.
Bongo sounds interested in having a play, so perhaps we can arrange a time that both of you are available, plus anyone else interested. I know we had a local meetup recently, but could do a woodworking session as part of an informal meetup with open invitation to all? I'll even clean up the area under the house a bit for the occasion lol.
Apart from the vacuum chamber, everything else is here ready to use anytime.
Just need to build/buy a forge next Already have my eye out for a 2nd hand anvil if I can find one for a fair price.
For metal forging, have you ever tried an induction loop forgeIt's nice to be important, but more important to be nice
