To all of you from all the Queen's Nations as they are and the King's Commonwealth before, A mighty thank you from a student of history in the USA. Your men were fighting and dying to hold the door open before our country could even decide to get anything going in the two major wars and many other situations.
Thank you from all the free world even if they don't admit it.

Thank you for the humbling reminder that November 11th isn't just an American day of honoring/grieving. It's a good day to remember that though our accents may be different, our fights are (usually) the same.

Regardless of Nationality, I would hope that all will remember what those who served did. Some died, some came home and some are unaccounted for.

Thanks Richard, that really does mean a lot, some local history.

Tinui was the first place in the world to have a formal celebration of ANZAC Day. Back in 1914 there were over a thousand single men in the area, many volunteered for the Services and a portion lost their lives.

In 1916 Rev Basil Ashcroft held an ANZAC ceremony at Tinui and erected a cross. While the original has been replaced a more modern cross is located in the original position on the hill overlooking the village.
