Default Aussie Bottle Brush for Shaving Brush

Hi guys, thinking of trying my hand at making a shaving brush from Australian Native bottle brush. Just wondering if anybody has made one or is it a wasted exercise. Tried a search in here and on Google and no answers so far. Thanks for your time

Sadly the piece of tree I had selected started cracking badly only days after it was cut, and this was in the very early drying time.
I will keep trying branches from other plants and hope to get on a good one soon.
    This could take a while.

    Ricky, check this reference out

I notice the turning shown appears to be from a cone. Some species seem to produce very hard cones that might be suitable for brush handles. Unfortunately, none of the ones in my backyard are like this but some of the timber suppliers may know where to get them.

Thanks for the link Scott I have looked at the Banksia pods and they make a nice brush. Very tricky to turn with a (for me) high level of difficulty and no lathe to use. Watched a couple of videos on this and there is a lot of debris being sprayed everywhere when turning these even on a quality lathe. I will keep searching, thanks again mate
