    Default Call out

    Hey all,

Since we are locals and most of us could be in coo-ee of some of us... I thought we could have a meet-up type thread. Not for a big gathering but rather smaller ones.

For example, I'm in the Newcastle Area and heading out today to some of the antique stores, I thought it might be nice if anyone else was free and wanted to come along too.

The idea being you could reply here and we could meet in town somewhere...

This thread could be used by people everywhere and where appropriate the users in that area could meet. Just an idea, could work, could fail...

But I'll be in Newcastle around lunch time, would love it if anyone wants to meet up and maybe we could both grab a bargain

    Chaplain Andrew,
I am still waiting to hear how you skillfully combine science with faith, i.e., evolution and the 6000 year old stuff.

It's an art form almost. For me, it's looking at the facts. The overwhelming evidence suggests the accepted theory of evolution and origin of the universe. For me, neither denies the existence of (a) God, but only strengthens my faith. It also raises more questions than it answers, neither scripture (note I didn't say faith) or science provides answers to these questions but I'm comfortable in the ambiguity of it.

Scripture needs to be read in an appropriate way. Not all of it is to be read literally; the parts of Genesis regarding creation are poetry in their original context and language and need to be read as such.

Atheists and Fundamentalists tend to read the bible the same way; one believes it blindly and the other blindly believes all others believe it blindly, neither gives room for the shades of grey.

I hope that helps paint a picture
