Well I went out, I tried another club gun today. It was an ATA Arms O/U. It felt nice but I couldn't hot much with it, maybe 3/25 My wife did much better but she was using a Miroku O/U that was much more suited to her size/stature.
I must say the ATA didn't smash my face up like the other gun did... That said the recoil has killed my shoulder.

Don't be discouraged. As a kid, some old guys made me shoot at an old refrigerator once. I was baffled. I put the bead right on the middle and shot low. I was then told about the difference between rifles and other guns with sights, and field shotguns.
They taught me to use the little dot sight to find the target. Cover it up. Bingo!
We were hunting a slow field at a trap club seldom used. Unbusted clays were everywhere.
I began to take one and throw it up with the right hand, change the gun across, cover it up and bust it.
I got good at two at once as well.
I was a great shot that year!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Yah, I think very much that good gun technique, good fit will be key to busting clays.
I had a few shots with the Miroku and did better. I think I hit 2/4, it felt better but still a little off...

Another thought, Andrew. That club has some guys you could pay for a few rounds, buy 'em lunch.
Show you what's up! Pro's for hire at ranges/clubs. Reserve the same gun every time! WELL worth the dough!
We men all like to think we can shoot..........Last edited by sharptonn; 12-08-2015 at 02:36 AM.

I already have a few blokes in mind that I'd throw some money towards in exchange for their expertise. I was going to wait until I had my own gun however, one thing I think will help, especially starting out, is one with a mid-rib bead as well as one on the end of the barrel.
Miroku still have a very good name Bob, at least here in Australia, we only really have SxS or O/U guns here, not a lot of single barrel stuff... I alway understood them to be the Japanese Browning, didn't know they did Citori stuff too! They are known for shooting really well right out of the box.
They don't seem to have the detail and finese (they do have fancy models though!) of other guns like a nice Zoli or Beretta or even some of Browning's nicer offerings but they shoot well!

A mid-rib sight did squat for me, personally. Wing-shooting is all about the point, stance, head down, cover it up with the barrel, swing through and trigger pull. Your own gun is best! Like a razor, you will adjust.
The one-gun double did wonders for me. Still with it, as I can.
Keep in mind that some specialty shotguns with ramped sights may be dead-nut with the sight. Always shoot an old refrigerator first!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Poor mans clay target shooting: One of those hand loaded clay pigeon throwers (bolted into a spare tire). Low cost unlimited fun. Plus when I did that, my kids were old enough to load my .20 gauge shells for me, a win win.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
