Well it's a Japanese made frameback. It should be a nice shaver. It's advertised as Not Shave Ready. I don't know what postal rates are in the Land Down Under but you would be wise to contact Oz about honing and his rates/he could also offer his opinion. His work is legendary so is his Knowledge of Many Things Japanese. I'll PM you how to contact him.

To my eyes, this is significantly less wide than it should be. The width of the tang and the frameback back itself suggests it should probably be a 13/16 or something like that

I too believe that at one time the blade was larger, however I do think that it should be a nice shaver and for a guy brand new the price is decent.

Here's a picture of the Japanese Razor and Hone found on Iwo. It's very similar and Yes the blade is wider.

The man who found the razor and later returned it to the fallen soldier's son on Iwo also gave me his father's razor which has toe wear. It's still a great shaver and I'd NEVER consider changing it.

Thanks guys. This helps me figure thing out in the future. I have a couple of razors already and more on the way. So will pass on this one. But now I know what they should look like.

This razor is missing may be 1/4" of the blade width if not more. A definite pass for me.

Will do. I am already in touch with them. But I am rather keen not to waste too much of their time.
