tensen bengall
Bought a bengall razor recently and it has "made expressly for N.P. Tensen Tasmania" i have not been able to find anything on the internet about him either so i was hoping someone here might know i don't have a good photo of it so i'll try for a close up so you can see it

My guess, is
Tensen had a store somewheres over in Van Diemans Land in the 19th century. It was likewise not uncommon for a Store to have a bunch of Liege or Birmingham manufactured shotguns to have his name on the rib, to sell , even though he was not the maker, causes some confusion about the place!!

Ps just back from Tas, did meet a whip maker down in Devonport, Simon Martin, does some lovely work. Did not see much of straights in the antque junk shops, over priced and pretty poor condition.eddy79 likes this.Keep yo hoss well shod an yo powdah dry !

That was my thoughts too Heelerau, but it sure is fun trying to solve a mystery. Welcome back from V.D land
. Gotta get down there myself one day.
How's the hunt for horse flesh going? Have a yarn to that bloke down the road from you with the Morgan?

Funny you should say that, I am on leave from now till near the end of Jan, and was talking to one of my roping mates last night over a couple, his son has a part Morgan from the Toodyay stud, and I will contact both they and the local woman here at Gidge likely over the next week or so, will let you know

i've done loads of searches and nothing comes up i'm just interested in the histort etc i also have a near wedge made by Thomas Turton and can't find much about that either
heeleru when i had horses when i was a kid i always wanted a morgan i loved book too i was also told they were what quater horses were bred from is that true?? i also wanted one of them

Along with Thoroughbred, Iberian, Barb, Arabian and a few others over the last century or so...The American Quarter horse is a blending of breeds to achieve the desired traits of the Quarter horse...Quick off the mark, fast over short distances, hardy, strong...Etc.
As I stand to inherit a Morgan breeding property, I have to show favour to them...But secretly I love Walers, Welsh Cobs and Quarter horses as well.
