Thanked: 226 years later and I can tell you that N. T. Tensen was a barber and newsagent in a town called Tullah ( near Lake Roseberry on the west coast of Tasmania) in the early 1900's. In 1908 a fire caused serious damage to his shop, though his house (next door ) was saved.
Amazing the info that still surfaces.
Cheers

From looking at the map it seems I drove through Tullah in 2007 on our way to Strahan - it left no impression. As Joan said it looks like Mr Tensen sold patent medicines and his own anti-dandruff preparation. Occurrences of his name peak sharply in 1909 so it's probably safe to date the razor to that time.
Both Joan and I have found this using TROVE from the National Library of AustraliaLast edited by Maladroit; 07-16-2016 at 11:25 PM.

Thanked: 22Yes, Trove (newspaper research) can be a little tricky at times but if you keep searching the more obtrusive places and people will show if they've ever been reported on or even advertised. I love matching the history of razors to the actual times and people involved if I can - its what got me caught up in collecting razors some years ago now.
