Thanked: 1072Suppliers of greasless compound in Aust
If any of you guys use greasless compounds would you mind letting me know where you get it from.
I just had a look at the Caswell Aust site but I couldnt find any.
I've got a sore arm from 6 or so hours of hand sanding last night so I thought i should at least look into it and see how much it would set me back.
Cheers

Thanked: 203i mostly just use the bars you get at bunnings with good success. {granted, i do hand sand to 2K}. Using a sanding block, champagne cork is good for razors, or a rounded piece of hard rubber, and a home made sanding clamp to hold the blade saves me from that finger/arm/shoulder pain.
to get the residue off from buffing, brake cleaner in a spray can works a treat.
i just don't like a lot of machine buffing. Only use the buff once for final finish, but that's just my personal preference. Just thought sharing may help you percolate some ideas.Respectfully,
Adam.

Thanked: 1072Yeah this is different stuff. I have the blocks (Josco etc) for the later stages of polishing.
Greasless is an entirely different animal that can be used to replace all the lower end hand sanding process.
Thanks guys

Caswell Australia has a few. Only one cutting one (black emery), and the rest are polishers.

You can get the Formax greaseless here
http://www.shooters.com.au/search.as...less&GO=Go&sc=
But take a look at the price ! Almost double the US price.
Caswells Aust can order in anything they sell in the USA but its a matter of convincing the guy to do it.
I've been considering using the glue + SiC powders. Again pricing & supply can be a problem. I tracked down a wholesalers for the powders but they usually sell 20kg at a time. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
