Thread: Planing a vacation

Hi Guys.

I am looking to visit Australia some time next year and just wanted to get some info. When do you guys think is a good time of the year to visit so it won’t be way to hot but still nice to tour around and go to the beach a few times.

It depends where you are visiting, Northern part of Australia or Southern half.

Generally, any time of the year can be good somewhere in OZ.

I'm going to say mid Spring or mid Autumn and suggest that, as being good, for any part of Australia. You avoid the big wet in the North, much of the heat in Central Australia and it isn't too cold down South. You will still find places that will be too hot, cold, humid or wet, but you'll get that just about anywhere anyway.
You will also avoid much of the venomous, poisonous, flying, stinging, biting nasties that we seem to have copious quantities of in this country.

P.S. I spent two months in the US during the beginning of your Spring A few years back, and I think that coming from Brooklyn you'll find spring time here fairly comparable to your own. I would say our Autumn (what you call Fall) would be generally a little warmer than your own, but this line of thought would be location dependent. Byron bay, Gold Coast, Monkey Mia, Airlie beach (But not for the beach) are all good places to go for a bit of coastal scenery. Airlie is the step off point to some beautiful islands. There are other places that are equally as beautiful to visit and many that aren't as touristy, but I'm not up on all of them and I don't know what you are looking for in a holiday.
Up North you need to pay attention to Crocodile warnings etc. So do some research before you come.

Well, when you do get over this way and if you're in my area with an hour or two spare, you should drop in for a coffee and a yarn. Not that touristy where I live though.

Not just crocs, but jellyfish too.

Little hard to see buggers like them irakanji as well as those big buggers that are not so hard to see and the usual run of the mill sharks of course. Stone fish and an assortment of other deadly marine life. Ah yes, we live in a country that only the gods could have made and blessed with all these wonderful creatures.
