A little hand from you aussies.
My Sister in Law is coming over to stay in Australia for 9 months. Sydney to be sort of exact (she mentioned an area of Sydney that she'll be working at but I forgot...)
Can you local guys give her any suggestions to look for housing? She's found a single room to stay but they wanted over $200 aus per week. I though that was a bit on the high side (though I might have been off) and suggested she look around a bit more.
Thanks
Alexander

Thanked: 1072These might help to have a look around, dont know if they have what your after but they might help to evaluate the going rates. I live 500 kilometers from Sydney but grew up there, the rental prices are pretty high compared to other parts of the country. Hope that helps a little

Thanked: 983That rent sounds about standard for Sydney. Tell her to skip Sydney, NSW and come to Brisbane, QLD instead. Much nicer here. In all seriousness though, definately look around while she has the time before coming here, get firm agreements sorted with the real estate agents if she finds something with a good value for rental if she can too. You can email the real estates to start that process I believe. Grant has listed the better sites above that will hopefully give you some assistance.

Thanked: 46$200 aud a week is actually pretty cheap for a lot of Sydney. In some parts of the city that wouldn't get you a tin dunny, never mind an actual flat!

Agreed . I live on the north side of Sydney and apartment rentals would be more than double that but of course that buys you more than a room.

My son lives out near Bexley and pays around A$120, I think, I could ask him if he knows of anywhere around his place that is in that price range if you want.
