Thread: Honing Help In Melbourne

G'day Gents,

I'm on the lookout for someone who would be kind enough to show me how to hone

I'm located in Pakenham, Victoria (South Eastern Melbourne) but I'm more than happy to travel if necessary.

Might I suggest that you two get together and watch gssixguns honing videos on You Tube - the man is a jet.
I'm sure that someone will come along soon and help, however, there is an option for you in the mean time.
If I wasn't in Brisbane, I would share what I have learned from them.
Of course, if you pay my fuel I'll come for a ride....hehehehehehe

I'm in Ferntree Gully and can hone well enough for me...though I am still pursuing the 'perfect' edge (I think I got it once )

I think stropping is really important too.

I'd be happy to catch up and have a session.

I sent austy a PM before I went overseas for a holiday and let him know that I'd be happy to be involved with something when I got back. Well I'm back now so I'm more than happy to pass on what honing knowledge I have and bring a few different stones to a gathering (Shaptons, coticules etc). I'm in Bentleigh which isn't too central but I'm happy to travel.
I've got plenty of spare straights that need honing so I'm happy to bring along a few for people to practise on if need be.

Sounds like a brilliant idea. My availability is somewhat restricted though - to either a weeknight, or a Saturday after 3ish. I'm happy to travel anywhere around Melb

Ok i will be in time and date permiting im just up the road FTG in Kallista so there is a few of us in the east it looks like i just got a chinese 12000 water stone and will be glad to bring it and some razors along.

cool I'm in , got some japanese waterstones. I'll bring them. I'm a bit restricted to evenings and late arvo on weekends. Also picked up some razors in need of TLC.

So, do we anyone willing to provide a venue?
