Thanked: 203From the Workshop In Brisbane
Hey Guys,
This is what has kept me busy lately. Two hunters with G10 hilts, stainless guards, D2 blades and Kydex scabbards. Two more kitchen knives to complete to fill an order and then i can get back to razors. i already have the raw materials for four razors and have started transferring the designs to steel.
Good news is i have April off from the day job. Sure - a couple of weeks with the kids in school holidays, but then i get a couple of weeks to myself in the workshop. yay!! Anyhoo - just thought i'd let you know i am still alive and have not given up razors - there will be more in late April/early May.
Regards,
AdamRespectfully,
Adam.

Thanked: 983Nice stuff Adam, orange isn't my favourite colour for a knife, but I do understand that my opinion isn't the only one worth listening too (though it bloody well should be of course ). Hard to tell in the photo's, but have you used a two tone affect with those acorn rivets i.e a brass centre and a nickel outer? It gives a nice birds-eye affect if you change around the combination, as you probably already know. And last question, do you solder, or use 'knead-it' on your handguards?

Thanked: 1072Very nice work mate. I'm slowly working on my first couple of knives myself.
If they turn out a fraction as nice as that I'll be stoked.
Enjoy the workshop time mate, I know how it can be a rare commodity.
Cheers

Very nicely done! That orange is bright. Does it glow in the dark?

Thanked: 203Thanks Grant,
forged blades are fun and can perform beautifully. These are stock removal D2 - to give an idea of toughness i honed down to 6K waterstone, then removed the slight burr by drawing twice through a piece of pine under just the weight of the knife. That made them shaving {well arm and leg } sharp. tried that with some factory kitchen knives i was sharpening and it just made them butter knives and had to start again.
It's all about performance first for me, then cosmetics. The Blue/black handle is #36. i'm a slow learner.
Have fun in the forge.
