Don't look at me though, I'm no organiser, but isn't it about time we had another get together in Brisbane? Anyone want to try and sort one out?

Yeah - sounds good, but i am a little busy between work, getting ready to move and paint the new house, build a workshop and the rebuild on the 4wd i just bought, all the while trying to keep up with my family responsibilities. :)
That said, i will try to attend very hard if we do get one happening...
Adam
I'm up for another get together, the last one certainly went well :)
Some random thoughts come to mind here and all input is welcome
At our last Brisbane get together it was suggested we do a workshop for our next meet and greet.
Is everybody happy to go with that format?
What skills would you like to cover in the workshop?
Honing, pining, making scales are all possible.
Time limits are going to be an issue for many of us
Though it would be nice to make a day of it with a suitable venue
I'm not sure our usual Coffee Club will be a good place a workshop to take place
So we may need to come up with an alternative place.
Suggestions please, maybe at a members house or a Scout Hall, something else???
We would of course make sure it was all neat and tidy at the end of our time
What do you think?
Rick
Well if it can be organised (Remember, I'm just the instigator. Not the organiser.) Stu once suggsted his Church's hall. That may be a bit far south for some, but it may be a possibility. Stu would better know the answer there. I like the idea of a worksop. But I wouldn't be able to bring much of any skill to show. I would just be a pretty face in the crowd :D.
I have no problems with your ideas Rick, I would insist on one thing though. The availability of coffee and tea. I just miss youse bastards, and enjoy a chat over a cuppa with ya's. :)
Mick
id be keen :) I'm still sorry I missed the last one!!!
I think we will try to get together when the weather warms up some more.
Nobody seems interested when it's cold outside.
Shouldn't be too long before that happens though. After all, it is queensland :) winter was Wednesday this year I believe??
If there is a chance to meet a few faces & learn a thing or two then I'll definitely try to be there.
[off topic] Mick is that a Parsons or a Standard Jacky in your avatar ?
I will be down at the GC/BNE from Townsville next week for four days if anyone has time to at least catch up for a coffee.
No wet DE or SE or SR shavers that I know of in Townsville! Sorry there is one new member.
Cheers,
Sunbird
Actually, i have no idea if there is anyone in my immediate area!! Is there any way i can except just asking ?
Standard I believe. Parsons are longer legged like a Fox Terrier I think. He ain't no shorty, but he sure isn't real tall either :).
Sorry about not being around of late. Had to travel out to Charleville urgently.
It's not looking like too many volunteers are raising their hands here. So, left up to me, I'm just going to suggest we find a date that suits a few people and make a booking at the West end Coffee club again. We have had a little success with trade and purchase at the last one, so if it takes off, keep that in mind if you have anything you want to sell or trade. Otherwise, just a nice little get together with like minded friends. Any suggestions for dates?
Mick
*raises hand* Another one for Brisbane - I'm just a follower. I have trouble color coordinating my clothes.
I think we may all be mate. I'll try and organise something, but first I have to organise myself. I find it hard to plan more than three days in advance, let alone organise a meeting of like minded individuals weeks down the track.
Now, you blokes, does anyone want to bid with a date they might like to get together? I'm just going to suggest the meet up place be the same again, Coffee Club at West End, but it doesn't have to be there. Chuck in the suggestions for dates and meeting places and lets see what we can make happen. Leave it up to me and I will just name a date and turn up at Coffee Club and expect you bastards to stand me up on the day :)...
Mick
Ok I will throw it out there
I'm thinking about 2nd or 3rd Sunday in October
Trying to lock down dates on my new work roster right now (shiftwork again)
Looks like one of those weekends I can be free to come and play
Just started a new job and still getting everything settled in
New site and new contract to boot, so everyone is still struggling a bit
I should know by Wednesday all going well
Its going to be great to see some new faces and catch up with the old ones too :)
Welcome to the group drfong
Sorry i missed saying so earlier :(
Hope you can come and meet some of the Brisbane group at our get together
We're a pretty laid back bunch of straight razor fanatics here
Come along and enjoy a coffee and a chat if you're free
Hope to see you there
Rick
Good now we're moving along. I'm not home at the moment to check those suggested dates suitability, but I will say it sounds good so far.
Mick
Have a meet in Sydney....
Great idea. December's GiveAway could be an Airlines Ticket and Voucher for Accommodations! wow!
A quick update on possible get together date
Work rosters are still being juggled at this stage (not my call on them)
Get a person almost right to work on their own and they just up and quit on us
The joys of a new contract and all new staff such is life
A Sunday in October is still possible at this time
Many of us seem to have work commitments on Saturdays which is why we tend to go for Sunday meet ups
Weekend dates to look at from the 2nd to the 4th Sunday of October
That would be the 14th, 21st or 28th
Venue still to be decided, though it may be the Coffee Club at West End again
They seem to be happy to have us there showing off our new aquisitions and such
Lets have some feedback guys and I will try to get a date locked in that suits most of us
Cheers for now
Rick
Any of those days would probably suit me too. Make the time sometime in the late afternoon/early evening would suit me best. We would need to call ahead at the Coffee Club to confirm though.
Mick
21 st suits me … 28 th would be my second pick (will be on call for work over that weekend ).
I could go and see them at the Coffee Club and book it if you like.
Is everyone agreed on the 21st?
Timings to be advised - around 1pm?
Would you like me to approach Stu about his church hall?
Cheers,
Geoff
Go the 21st - I'll have to miss it - unlucky me is off to Spain for a week of work.
Now if I could only hunt down the Razor and Brush masters in Barcelona.
Thanks Geoff. You're elected. :)
Mick
Didn't you remember the old Army adage...Never volunteer for anything...;)
Mick
That sounds like the old army way of getting volunteers mate
I think the ba$7ards set me up......
You just let us know what you get organised mate. Good on yer cobber. :tu
Mick
Thanks Mick.
I'm waiting to hear back from Stu re: his church hall and will post here when I do.
We'll use the Coffee Club as a backup plan - if that's OK with everyone.
Suits me.
Mick
Hi Geoff,
I'm keen on your early afternoon idea, say 1 or 2 pm kick off - now that I live at the Sunny Coast an afternoon date beats an evening one. The Coffee Club backup plan is OK for me too.
Mike
21st sees me down in NSW.
I am sure there will be another one.
Enjoy gents.
