There is a bloke who had a good leather supply place, just going into Freo, he is operating from home, I will have to look for his card, but he has roo hide, and bark tanned leather from NZ as well.

I still occasionally make a strop or two, but really I only did it as a "proof of concept" and gave them away. MickR was making some really nice ones but I'm not sure if he still does. The problem, as you guys clearly already know, is that it is difficult to just get a piece of roo leather for a strop - mostly you can only get a whole hide which makes it an expensive option for just a single strop, unless you can get a few people together to share the cost - even then, in such a large country with relatively sparse straight razor users, shipping them to each other becomes an added expense.

your definately right, particularly about the cost, i spent $22 on leather, about $10 on various wet and dry, $12 for two 75mm brass hinges which I used top and bottom as hardware, they work very well but obviously there is some risk to your blade if you slip. However I am very happy with what I made but I have no shopbought strops to compareare it to.

I'm looking to get more supplies for pasting strops and have been reading up on suppliers. Kreamer pigments kept coming up so I checked it out. They have crox that is .3 micron and feox that is .09 micron. Links added below. For 100g of each and postage was $15
