We don't use them much down here as we prefer our left earlobe without the sunburn.

My hairline unfortunately has NOT remained the same, although it is retreating at only glacial speed. It is indeed a thermos, apparently he always carries a thermos in photos. That was the 'Subject 3 for Sergeant course' I was Student of Merit of course, I then went on to be Student of Merit in the Subject 1 course and Bombardier of the Year. was extremely fit then; that was when I was a Recruit Instructor, my hair is longish as it's between platoons. I was shacked at the slovenly nature of my course mates. The first morning when we have PT (Physical training) we were all standing around waiting for the Physical Training instructor. One of them turned to me and asked what the session would be today. I said "I don't know!" They said, "Oh, we thought you were the instructor, you look like it!". They were very 'casual' and I was extremely regimental...
No, they were normal and you were uptight... You can tell by the photo with the arms crossed...That or you were just sulky that day.
