Norway has a compulsory service of 12-18 months for all inhabitants.
Nowadays even women from what I understand.
Here's my rather unimpressive track record in the Norwegian army:
Infantrist private in the Infantry batallion, Setermoen. Brigaden i Nord-Norge.(Brig-N) Later part of the sixth Divisjon. Norway. 1988-89.
Dismissed before end of service due to needed eye-corrections.
In the reserves (Heimevernet) until dismissed from it at the age of 39.
