    Default Its hunting season again.

Some may remember a great year for harvesting dinner.

The Mrs. definitely brought home the uh fungus. Chantarelles. For reference, that's a 12" ruler.

Are you going to put them in tomato sauce?

Hirlau, The last few bags made a great pasta sauce - no spices at all. 'Just garlic, onion, chantarelle and garden tomatoes. These will likely be dried and vacume-sealed for winter pasta or sauteed for steaks.

Leather, they can be used just about any way a regular button-type mushroom is prepared. Raw, Sauteed, added to other sauces, mushroom soup. The only thing you can do like a button mushroom is stuff then. The top is not segmented from the stalk - no stem to remove and replace w/ sauteed goodness.

I don't mean to hijack your thread Pinklather, but this thread has me thinking about wild edibles. I feel compelled to share some pics from this spring.
