    Default Johnny Cash

Mr Cash was something spectacular. Anything he touched he made it his own. I very much enjoy the many songs Mr Cash has written over the years but I find the ones that touch me the most are two songs that he covered in his later years. One called "Hurt" written by Nine Inch Nails, and the other is called "The Mercy Seat" writen by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I really do not enjoy the music from either of these groups but when Mr Cash takes a try at it I love it!!

    So, here it is:

Mr Cash really was one of the greats, specially at his olden days. I've enjoyed his American Series records. It is too sorry he didn't live long enough to see how popular he really became in the end.
May the dust lie lightly on you under the earth, mr Cash.

I'm a litttle disappointed in that "Hurt" got all the attention.

On that album, he also did a wonderful cover of "Personal Jesus", the classic Depeche Mode song.

Now THAT song he made his own more than Hurt.

Great stuff. I love Nick Cave, NIN and Johnny Cash.

I Walk the Line, A Boy Named Sue, and Ring of Fire are some of my favorites.

One of my favorites is from the Sun Records years, "Get Rhythm" Of the newer stuff Rusty Cage and The Man Comes Around really move me. He was a great artist. I have fond memories of his TV show when I was a young man. Here is my favorite image of Johnny.

Johnny Cash is certainly an American Icon. Those of us who live near Folsom Prison have a very high regard for what "The Man In Black" stood for throughout his career. I also enjoy being a lifelong friend of John Price of the Rhythm Riders who W.S. Holland of the Tennessee Three calls the best Cash tribute act in the land.

    He sure was great.

I too prefer his later work, especially how dark his last albums sound, when he knew he was dying. Hurt, One and Solitary Man are my personal favorites.

Yes, I remember the show with fond memories myself. I was in my single digits then Jimmy. By the way Jimmy, how does triple digits feel?
