Thanked: 3225Hartmann & Weiss gun makers
I just found an old catalog and it jogged a pleasant memory. I had the pleasure to going to visit Hartmann & Weiss around 1995 and was given a friendly reception even though I could never afford one of their guns. They were happy to indulge this poor gun enthusiast and allowed me to handle their wares. Not a hint of disdain as so often is present in establishments purveying high end wares. They made the experience a real pleasure, high class all the way. Anyway you might want to view some of their work par excellent Hartmann & Weiss .

Thanks for sharing that Bob, I hadn't known of them before. I loved the falling block rifles, but the double rifle is what I've always wanted. Reading John 'Pondoro' Taylor's "African Rifles And Cartridges" was my introduction to them. For dangerous game they were the fastest at getting off a second shot if necessary. Anyway ....... way out of my league and I haven't hunted dangerous game lately.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 102Thanks for posting. Love to look at quality firearms. I used to dream about having a double barrel rifle in 500 Nitro Express. Today i don't think my shoulder could handle the recoil. But i still dream.
