Nice catch!
I wish I had the time... but I don't see that happening for another 2-3 years minimum.
In the mean time, going to the range is the best I can do, and even that is not an easy task (yet another hobby the Lady of the house is not too fond of...).

I am no hunter: haven't got the patience. Plenty roadkilled hare and rabbits here that, if still fresh, I take home to skin and bone. That is about as heroic as I get. I once accompanied an elk hunter and sat for hours with him in a tree hide in Utah. Saw a few elk that did not qualify for a kill.

Thanked: 3795Minnesota limited to one deer per hunter. My wife wanted 4 in the freezer.
Fortunately, I had help.
A bow hunter only wanted a buck but shot a doe from our driveway so I got that one.
I shot a big 8 pointer from a tree stand with my muzzleloader. The roundball put it down within 20 seconds.
A friend of mine hunting with me got a huge doe with a shotgun from a blind.
Finally, I acquired a massive old buck that was finished off with a Buick or a Ford or whatever. I had to chase away another guy on the highway who decided it was his but it was on our land and the DNR was on our side.
So, my wife is happy and I'm off the hook with my second year of deer hunting.Last edited by Utopian; 12-19-2014 at 07:01 PM.

Thanked: 1936Here's my 8-point. The rack wasn't much to brag about as it's a young buck without much mass...but he was a big bodied guy and delicious!
