I found a roughly 50+ year old broach in the shape of a leaf with the missing pin made of stamped copper! Nice little find in a yard of a old home that was about 80+ years old.

I also found a Civil War musket ball on our property this past summer!

I have a cheapie one and have had a blast with it. It has an LCD display and tells you pretty much what you have found.
Gathered up earrings and such around the firepit (as-requested) and has been used to find corner posts (of metal) .
Take it to the sawdust playground and see who the future (and current) assholes are!
Some kids will shove in and dig like crazy. Then claim the prize!

ive been meaning to buy the Garrett atc (gold) i think it is , the one that is waterproof to 10ft ...i just have to many wants and not enough $$$ .. history of all kinds has always caught my eye and i have a bunch of search locations but just havnt got the machine !!

while prospecting for gold i have found some square nails , other odd metal objects , old pottery , and some old what i think to be indian grind stones .. there is a cave by me that has an inscription " 1777,1787 or 1797 violinist association " ( cant remember date) that i always wanted to detect around .. at one time we were setting fox traps around the base of the ledges and went in with our dirt sifters and small shovels and went down about 2ft and got into a bunch of chard wood and some partial arrow heads .. it was cool because the guy i was with walked past the visible remains of a previous fire to where he could look up and see light , then thats where we dug cause he said Indians and in the old days people were smart enough to have a straight shot of smoke for not to fill the cave with smoke ... that was 18 years ago and a lesson i will never forget , but i can imagine some people sitting around there and items falling out of there pocket around the fire ! not to mention the area was a stop on the underground railroad and im sure some people probably had a staging point in the caves around ..
