another little stroll .. pic heavy ..
well from my last hike i decided to go the other direction , this is actually a big flat at the top of these ledges that makes a circle and is about 5-8 ,miles from one side to the other (divided by roads now )
but at one time there was a quarry and wagon trail to it , ive found another foundation ontop of where these pictures were taken .. as the sspring progresses i will venture to the other areas and show some more ..
tried to read the writing but couldnt ..lol

this is where the black bear den was last year ..
back in my younger days we would sleep and have a few "pops" all weekend while playing paintball .. there are a few tunnels inside here with lots of writing from lmid 1800's-current as most of the old stuff cant be made out as it is sandstone and worn under the current vandals . i was gonna take some pics inside bet the floor is 12" of ice and its a long way to crawl with a broken leg to get home ..lol

this one goes down about 15ft then opens up and goes in 2 directions .. something had been in and out of it so i didnt feel like going in at the moment after seeing the large cat tracks last week ..lol
if i remember right i mentioned one of these caves had some writing of 1787 or 1807 i honestly cant remember but it maybe this one !! it is closed off now and im not sure why other then maybe a large bat population they want protected ,, but notice there is a trail camerea mounted to the bars
a hand chiseled bench from ???
some interesting marks
and a old local guy told me years ago that this bin was made to store the old milk jugs from the farm due to a natural spring flowing .. the rumor is that this area was so infested with rattlesnakes that most of the farms raised more pigs then cows cause the pigs would kill the snakes !! i dont know for sure but who am i to ? the old man ..lol..
i can remember filling our water bottles here and watering our beagles as we hunted rabbits though

the chiseled bench .. i left out .. i imagine that these may have actually been where a stone was used for one of the original homes in the area but with both together it gives the apperance of a bench

Thanked: 4826Thanks for another tour. It's always interesting to see all new areas. I've spent most of my life living in a pretty small area.

The pics are great and the descriptions really helped bring the area to life. Thanks for taking the time to share both!
