Thread: Scanner Enthusists

Hey all sine this would appear to be the place for our non-shaving related toys.. I wonder how many other scanner enthusists might be lurking in our ranks.

I currently own a Uniden HomePatrol-1 and will be getting the BCD436HP in about a week or so. Who else eaves drops on all the radio traffic out there? Am also into SDR for radar spotting and a licensed Amateur Radio Operator..

Any others out there?

The last time I used scanners was about 10 + years ago,,,, I used them at work in conjunction with my police radio. Being in different municapalities, each had their own dispatch & set of assigned frequencies. You could be a half mile away from a seriuos crime in another city & not even know about it until the "intercity" channel broadcast it,,, this could take several minutes. I would strap then in the empty seat beside me with all the other city frequencies set & pick up the action as it was called off. It made for a more exciting night.

I had the frequencies for 2-way radios monitored by keeping a pair in the "scan" mode constantly,,, this helped pick up communication between residential night burglars & smugglers working the inter-coastal houses.

Don't have the energy for it now,,, too many other hobbies.
