Thread: Wonderful day on the river !!

well after being surrounded by hunters while trying to kill a turkey the last couple days i decided to hit the river knowing that being a week day and 29 degrees when i got up that it would be a river to myself !!

bbbuuutt it wasnt !! i shared the stream with a bald eagle as it buzzed the stream then disappeared , 20-30 steps further a goose took off and landed in a tree !! yes a tree !! i have never saw that before !! i laughed turned to my left and had 4 deer at about 15 yards !! thinking my day was great already i proceeded to cross the stream , down the stream comes a piece of wood right at me !!!! but in fact it was a river otter that quicky swam past after seeing me !!! to top that off 2 big gobblers came down on the river bank , with so much excitement this morning i didnt care if i even caught a fish !! but ya i di , hooked 12-13 and landed 10-11 (only 2 got off) and after a couple hours it was time to head home after finishing off the trip with a nice fighter !! i dont think the day could have got any better other then finding a box of razors but hey !? we cant have it all ..lol

i dont know if you can see them but at the top of these red lines are some feeding in the riffles , this time of year and low clear flows guys beat this fish to death throwing big flies , spinners with heavy line in there bright clothes making them scatter soon as they see a lure !!

i drop down to light tippet , crawl up on them , downsize my flie patterns , and wear camo or blending colors and it usually allows me to pick up fish right after people have given up




a shell i grabbed for my daughter , i will clean it and clear coat it making it a nice tray for ear rings or necklace for her

l really like your fishing photos Gooser even though I make fun of them. Maybe some day I will make it up there to those streams, I would pay for the gas & all the snacks.

we dont need any snacks !! those fish from the grocery store fry up real nice !!!..lol..

going after some trout in PA next week so hopefully more pics !!

Nothing like being the only human on the stream. Nice fish!!!!
