Ed, the whole thing is one unit that screws in a regular light bulb socket. See
LIFX Edison Screw WiFi Enabled Multicolor Dimmable LED Light Bulb, Pearl White - Led Household Light Bulbs - Amazon.com
It has inside the transformer of the high voltage AC power to the low voltage DC that electronics use, the LED elements, the wifi and the chipset that controls it all - basically a very rudimentary computer.

I don't want to "talk" to my house or my truck. That is why I don't drive a Chevy!

Thanked: 1587Hehe - the clapper, that's awesome! You don't see many clappers in Aus I have to admit, but yeah I'd agree that is pretty awesome.
Dylan, a rumpus room is like a multipurpose entertainment room. I thought it was a universal name but clearly not. We have games consoles, tv, dvd etc in our rumpus room, with beanbags and comfy couches etc. It's also where I keep my elliptical stepper machine.
Ed, yep if those bulbs blow or die or explode or whatever diodes do, then we are out a lightbulb and will need to replace it just like a normal light bulb, but at 20 times the cost...! However, if that happens within the first couple of years I'll definitely be contacting the manufacturer to see what they are prepared to do about it. .

I have it on good authority that the clapper is for the rich with money to burn; most folk are already paying arm and leg to have children and that works even better

Well, yes, I have - just the other day for that matter My findings: the two year old is so much into turning the light on and off that it got a bit of a disco vibe, but I don't think it's something a proper stropping can't fix
It's not like the clapper is perfect either - a good beans dinner can keep the same disco vibe going on all night
I'm not saying the children are cheaper, just that the marginal cost of an additional clapper is a waste when properly trained children can already do all that and more (e.g. fetch the newspaper when the dog is asleep).
Rich folk are noted for having about one child, usually named Theodore Maxwell Barrington IV or similar, so it is easy to see how teaching him the skill of turning the lights on and off is detrimental to his proper upbringing.
On the other hand commoners have up to a dozen children which can be pitted against each other in fist fights or such for the privilege to turn the light on or off. That way when they grow up they can obtain gainful employment with Sir as his personal clapper who can recognize the precise amount of lightning Sir needs at any moment by just observing the subtle curvature of his eyebrows.
