Comparable camera to Canon T3i
Does anybody here have experience or knowledge with the Canon T3i?
I have a relative that wants to trade a camera for our T3i. What would be a comparable level camera from other brands?
I am leery about the trade and already nixed an offer to trade for the relative's older Canon T3 and I would only be interested if I could get an equal or better camera. I am also curious what makes the T3i so desirable because I am being told it has something the later T5 doesn't.

I have a T3i and still use it when I don't want the weight of one of my 5Ds. I think the comparable in the Nikon world was the 3200.
I wouldn't trade a perfectly good, if slightly out of date, camera for a similarly obsolete model from another manufacturer. When you factor the cost of buying all new lenses, it doesn't make sense to switch back and forth from maker to maker.
The T5i has a bunch of incremental improvements across the board and a touchscreen. It's a little more focused on shooting video than the T3i, but I can't think of any feature that's worse on the 5 than the 3.
If this relative wants to trade you a T5i or T6i for your 3, take it. Otherwise, you've already got a good camera and you know its condition and history.Last edited by Ecl; 06-01-2015 at 10:05 PM.

I really don't think the information being passed on to me stands up to scrutiny. By the way, I have not been spoken to by the person that wants to trade. The request is coming through my wife.
1) Whatever feature that is supposed to be better on the T3i has not been named/shared with me.
2) I am being told that new T3is are impossible to find. Well, a quick search on Amazon shows at least two vendors that have multiple T3is.
3) The reviews I have read reflect what you have written Ecl. The T5i eges out the T3i in feature comparisons.
