    Found this interesting rifle at the local museum. Can anyone guess what it is?

    That would be a FG 42 I think.

    Yup, you guys are on the ball. Pretty rare bit of gear to find in a small local museum. They also have an StG 44 on display.

    Would be a fine thing. I just wish I had the $150,000 to $300,000 ballpark to buy 2 in excellent condition in my petty cash drawer. According to one site FG42 this example is a first model and likely the rarest.

    Say what you will, but no one builds stuff the way the Germans build stuff.
