I've downloaded a free version to my tablet. I've played three games so far trying to get a feel for the rules.

A tip for those capable of downloading Android apps. I downloaded a free app called GOdroid several years ago. Excellent GO app. Perfect for beginners for the following reason:
Select the "Board Size" of only 9x9
Select handicap of 9
Let it rip. Once you're able to beat the computer which shouldn't take long, then either decrease your handicap or increase board size to 13x13.
IF......you can beat the computer ...... then go to 19x19 full size board and you're playing with the big boys.......
If anyone gets this app and follows the suggestions I've given, let us know how it turns out for you.

Another beginner tip:
Do NOT focus on capturing as many of the opponent's stones as you can. The opponent/computer will just lead you like a puppy, to ruin.
Instead, focus on securing as much territory as you can. Secure your position. When you see two human GO players start a game, you will almost never see them engage each other for quite some time. Each focuses on securing territory as well as placing a presence, though not control, over as much neutral or uncontrolled territory as possible. Once each player accomplishes those things first, then engagement will happen.
A single stone placed in an opponent's controlled territory will illicit no response from the opponent. While you're placing single stones here and there in his territory, stones that he will easily capture/surround when he desires...........he is placing stones on the board expanding his territory.
