Thanked: 51 of my top three hobbies
Well Metal Detecting is my #1 passion, but since moving back to the DFW metroplex I haven't been able to indulge in that hobby much, so about a year ago I got into stone carving. Stone carving and straight shaving are similar to detecting for me. I can zone out, relax and most importantly get a break from my crazy kids.

Very cool and interesting hobby. How did you get started in that?
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thanked: 5I started carving into smaller stones back when I was a kid. Back then they were more like etchings. Then out of boredom as an adult I went back to it, and it's progressed into full on relief sculpting. Been kind of figuring it out as I go.

Thanked: 5This is my most recent. It's my Family Coat of Arms. Although I did take some artistic liberties adding the battle ax, sword and crosses.

Thanked: 5I have a couple sculpting hammers and a small set of sculpting chisels. I like working with Flagstone because it's very easy to work with, but also remains durable once it's finished. I just really like the overall look of Flagstone.
