After wearing Red Wings for most of my working career( tryed lots of brands along the way ) I always found Wings to take a little longer on the breakin, but last so much longer, so I little give and take, but in the oilfield a boot goes thru heck, had a lot of boots with the steel toe showing from the chemicals but still great to work in,, Tim I got to get my old Wings out to wear in Charlie's shop, I was feeling good again. By the way I've used that toe plastic, it holds up pretty good not to mention you can just apply it again as it wears off. Tc

The only advantage I have found to cheaper boots is that you get to have new boots more often!

Thanked: 101I have been wearing the Redwings for several days now and they are getting "better". I did not want to quit on them due to quality and cost. When I was in the military we got issued garbage boots and we had to wear them until they felt good and not complain. As I've said before, more often than not by the time they started feeling good, they started falling apart.

I know it sucks to break in, but when they do they last. I tryed out Georgia boots once, they were comfortable straight out the box, thought I was in heaven, didn't last long, then Doc Martins, again great feeling boot, pitched them 6 months later, Ariat another good feeling boot in a short time of breaking in, lasted longer than the previous 2 but still replaced in a little over a year,, and then again different people different boot,, like Wolverines, great boot, but I can't wear them,MNowno matter how long I try they give me blisters and cramped toes, just the way you t us I guess, but their a tough boot too. I'm all down for Danners. The ones still made in the US. The pair I've got now I've had for 9 years I think, and they're on their third set of soles.
I won't buy boots made overseas, (read:China mainly) Extra Tough rubber boots were US made and 30 bazillion Alaskans, fishermen, towboaters, and other sailors couldn't have been wrong. Extra Toughs were tops. Not any more. I guess production went to China and Extra Toughs are now junk.
Yes the Danner seconds store on East Airport Drive in Portland Oregon is a great place to shop and save.If you find a starving dog and feed him he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between dogs and men.
