Vortex Strikefire 2
Been looking at buying a red dot for an AR build I did a while back. Anyone here have any pros or cons on the Strikefire 2? Took a look at it today and it looked quite nice for the money. Any other alternatives in the same price range ($200) worth looking at?

Sorry, no special optics on my systems,,, lighting, yes, but no optics yet. I'm a little behind the times.

There is iron sights on this rifle and the optics will be co-sighted in case of any failure.

Well, I don't have the optics , because I don't know how to use the gadgets they have today. I had a Leupold many years ago on a Remington model 700.

Thanked: 4The Dept. I work for equipped/issued us all with Colt AR's and the Vortex Strikefire. I looked up the Strikefire 2 and it looks like what we use, It can alternate between red or green and vary the brightness for night or day use. Easy to use/turn on/off in a hurry, that sort of thing. Durable item. If you get one, keep a spare battery handy, they are a odd size. We mount ours in-line with our flip up iron sights, so that we can use the iron in the event of a optic failure. Ours are about six years old and I am not hearing about any lifespan issues, they seem to hold up well to the kind of abuse and neglect we give them. Not sure what the MOA is, but since there is no magnification, expect slightly better accuracy than you would get with irons.

The Strikefire 2 is a 4 moa. Thanks for the hands on post. Sure sounds like a winner to me, good advice on the extra battery.

You probably have made up your mind by now but even though I have no personal experience with their scopes I have a pair of their binoculars that I can say nothing but good about. Their guarantee is great. I bought them used with minor problems and had no receipt and when contacted about repair they fixed them without question under warranty.
