Thread: How about an SRP coat of arms?

I'm an heraldist - a lover of heraldry. My own coat of arms is "gonna happen soon" - like that novel your cousin is writing

Joke aside, I encourage everybody to get a personal coat of arms. And SRP could get a corporate one.
In the USA, organizations can freely assume arms. Registration in a private register is suggested, but very optional.

How do you guys feel about that? We can discuss the design and I have a buddy who can draw it well.

Inspired by the current logo, I'd suggest 'Sable, a straight razor folded chevron-wise, in base a badger brush Or' - which translates as "on a black background, a yellow badger brush at the bottom of the shield, a straight razor folded like in the logo (but symmetric) also yellow"

Alternatively,

"Azure, a straight razor and a barber's strop in saltire Argent", which translates as "on a blue background, a straight razor and a a strop as a X, both white"

Well, it already has a logo, so I doubt this will get much traction. I could be wrong though.

On the left a Friesian Eagle.

I think it is a great idea and with the logo the way it is would be a fantastic start!

Nice one, Kees. It must be pretty ancient - marshalling by dimidation dates from the earlier days of Heraldry.

It is fun to have a family coat of arms but is pretty useless these days. I does not make me an aristocrat by any stretch of the imagination. In the Netherlands the coats of arms of the aristocracy are protected by some sort of legislation and the Council of the Aristocracy but those of the lesser mortals like myself are not protected, many aren't even registered. My father used to wear a signet ring with our coat of arms, but being stingy as he was never felt the need to give me one. I never felt the urge to wear his after he passed away. I have given one to my eldest daughter for her 21st birthday. It is perfectly legal in this country to have one designed for you or design one yourself.

The picture I posted earlier is a copy of an older picture that my father's brother drew when he was young, before WW II. My grandmother used to have it on the chimneypiece.

Your right, then we might start seeing different levels of registration based on your pedigree.....

Help me understand what a coat of arms is for and why is it important that you have a personal coat of arms?
